Yay! I do <3 Gorons. ^^ I was disappointed with their portrayal in TP (suddenly hostile and not nearly as cute), but they look more OoT-like again. Hooray for no rock nipples, lol. xD

I was mostly annoyed by their ComicCon trailer as about 99% of it was IDENTICAL to the trailer they displayed at E3. Thanks much, Nintendo; even now that I'm excited about the game, you're doing everything you can not to raise my hype level to astronomical levels before the game ships.

That said, the Gorons certainly aren't bad looking here. Though in all honesty, I'm tired of Gorons. I'm not particularly fond of them. I'm not particularly fond of how all the other (more interesting!) races seem to get the short end of the stick by comparison. So hopefully there's not just this.

Lol, such bitterness! xD But for good reason. My expectations for Nintendo are so low at this point that it's hard for me to be truly disappointed. These days I pretty much read through the updates with a "=|" expression and then resume whatever I was doing.

And I totally agree about the trailer business--sooo lame. As for the races, which ones do you wish would get more attention?

Where shall I start?
Kokiri? Haven't been seen since Ocarina of Time.
Gerudo? Ditto unless you count the pirates from Majora's Mask.
Zoras? Haven't had any real sense of awesome since the Oracle games.
Sheikah? Oh dear gosh, yes please.
Rito? I could have Rito in every game and not have enough.
How about something new? And awesome.

I mean, over the past few games, it's fairly apparent that Nintendo think that Gorons are more awesome than Zoras and that the Zoras are only there because the fans want them. Instead, outside of the Rito (awesome), we've seen a whole mess of lame races -- Picori, Anooki, Koroks, Locomo, Ooccoo, Tingles...

See, Ocarina of Time really elicited a creative explosion of content to Hyrule. It really expanded a series that up until then had been primarily human-centric. And really, they made each of those races fairly compelling. Since then, there hasn't been nearly the level of awesome in any of the games, and the more arcane races they come up with now are fairly... well, they're either not very epic (peaceful Picori) or pretty silly (the train-people Locomo... and I'm still trying to figure out exactly what the Anooki are).

But yeah, I actually am rather excited for Skyward Sword. For the first time in a long while, I'm excited about a Zelda game. I just really don't think Nintendo marketing and PR really does it for me any longer. It's like watching two Locomo run into one another. Nobody wants to see that.

*applauds* I heartily agree with everything you said. I remember being so excited to see Gerudo again in TP, only to find an abandoned desert overrun with enemies = major letdown. You COULD say that Impaz is a Sheikah, but I refuse to believe that, and I refuse to believe that character has anything to do with Impa. T_T

If I can recall correctly, Koroks are technically Kokiri transformed (why they thought becoming plants would give them a better chance at survival I don't know), but that whole thing just depressed me so it hardly counts. The Zoras were pretty in TP, but that's about all they were good for. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't it suggested in TWW that Ritos had once been Zoras? (The whole Medli/Laruto inheritance thing?) This makes even less sense, though, considering ZORAS ARE AQUATIC AND HYRULE WAS FLOODED. *facepalm* Yet I love TWW despite these things.

As far as the lame races, I like to pretend the Ooccoo don't exist, and I, too, have no idea what the Anooki are supposed to be. The Picori are cute, but they're too tiny to be significant. (Though Vaati is popular for all the wrong reasons.)

Oh, and you forgot my favorite, the Twili. </sarcasm> Creepiest race ever. Midna is astonishingly prettier than the rest of her people. =\

This. I know that they imply heavily that Koroks are Kokiri and that Rito are Zora, but honestly they were different enough that I like to call them entirely different things despite that. I'd love for Rito and Zora to be able to simultaneously exist, continuity and common sense be damned. (Also, it'd make it very funny to see how the timeline enthusiasts would react. )

I like to think that it was because Zant somehow managed to taint the Twili people with some twisty little power thing. I DO NOT KNOW. But yes, as presented, Zant and Midna are the only decent ones we get to see.
