Damn Game Informer and their access to art that isn't on the press site! /jealous
Link is REALLY cute in that.

I guess they're going to have some exclusive coverage showing up over the next few days/weeks? For anyone who didn't notice, it's the "Zelda Hub" link, on that link Louisa just posted: http://www.gameinformer.com/p/zelda.aspx

I hope Nintendo realizes that there is a market for artbooks for this game.

My hope for that died the day they stopped making strategy guides with gratuitous official and concept art in them in favor of stripped down "get 'er done" gameplay guides. :P

I think they (NoA/Prima?) hired Mases of Zelda Dungeon to help make an official guide. I told him if he didn't put ton of full image art in it (like that would be up to him) that I would never forgive him. We can only hope I'm taken seriously. Maybe I should have used a death threat. Hummmm. This is official art we're talking about after all. Hypothetical question: Would any of you guys actually test my resolve, or would you simply pass the threat on to the graphic designers to save your own life? I need to focus test this.

I would pay so much money for a real Zelda artbook. One on good paper. Damn them.

Prima offered him. Sounds like he turned it down.

Wasting space on official artwork? In this economy?

That reminds me of a semi related topic: did you guys know that many tv networks did not keep episodes of certain shows and wiped them from tapes to reuse the tapes? And that this happened for some shows until the Furfluffling 1980s??? This is why something like 180 episodes of Doctor Who are lost, and a lot of gameshows in the US have no archived episodes pre 1980. As well, the only reason I Love Lucy exists was because Lucille Ball was a Furfluffling genius and realized the episodes themselves were worth money in replay and Desilu was able to archive them all. Most tv shows though from the 30s-50s are lost because of the nature of the technology (were broadcast live) and copies were not made during broadcast (the tech existed but wasn't thought worthwhile at the time...and yes, there are tv shows from he 30s).

Anyway, how this relates: being held privately, I wonder what the archives of most game developers look like today. I know a lot of them have changed dramatically since the 70s and 80s. Nintendo is special in that it is so large it has remained unchanged since forever (I mean that it was never bought by anyone else). I also don't know what their approach is to historical documentation, especially since Nintendo is also a special case since they are +100 years of age. They still retain the card making side of the business, and have articles from that era, and they have a museum-thing at their store in New York, so I'm hoping that's a sign that they care about stuff like this and don't Furfluffling burn everything. I'd imagine, to collectors, they might have some very valuable and rare items.
